Zirconia, with the chemical formula ZrO2, is the main oxide of zirconium. Under normal conditions, it is a white, odorless and tasteless crystal that is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid. It has an inactive chemical property and features a high melting point, high resistivity, high refractive index and low coefficient of thermal expansion, making it an important high-temperature resistant material, ceramic insulating material and ceramic blackout agent. It is also the main raw material for artificial drills.
Applications:
1. Raw materials used for manufacturing metallic zirconium and its compounds.
2. It is used for making refractory materials.
3. It is used for making thermal spray materials.
4. Used for making ceramic materials.
5. It is used for making dielectric materials.

Zirconia chloride pyrolysis method: Zircon and caustic soda are melted at 650℃, and the molten material is leached out by hot water. Silicon is separated from sodium zirconate in the form of sodium silicate. Then, it is treated with sulfuric acid to obtain zirconium sulfate solution. After further impurity removal, ammonia water is added to precipitate zirconium hydroxide. Dissolve zirconia hydroxide with hydrochloric acid to obtain zirconia chloride. After evaporation and concentration, cooling and crystallization, crushing and calcination, the finished zirconia dioxide is obtained. In addition, zirconium compounds that are easy to purify can be thermally decomposed or oxidized to prepare high-purity zirconia. Zirconia has excellent chemical properties. It is a weakly acidic oxide and has sufficient stability against alkaline solutions as well as many acidic solutions (except for hot concentrated H2SO4, HF and H3PO4). Crucibles made of ChemicalbookZrO2 can be used to melt a variety of metals such as potassium, sodium, aluminium and iron. It is also stable to sulfides, phosphides, etc. Many silicide melts and slags also have no effect on sintering ZrO2. |
