Product Details

Nanometer holmium oxide has a pale yellow appearance, often with a characteristic pinkish-brown tint under light. Its melting point is approximately 2415°C, and its density is about 1.79 g/cm³. It is paramagnetic at room temperature and boasts one of the highest magnetic moments. It is insoluble in water but soluble in strong inorganic acids, crystallizing in a cubic structure. The Ho³⁺ ion has sharp absorption and emission peaks in the visible and infrared regions. Storage sealed in a dry, dark environment is recommended.

Applications:


1. Solid-State Lasers: The active ion in holmium-doped laser crystals (e.g., Ho:YAG), generating eye-safe 2.1 µm lasers used in medical surgery, LIDAR, and photonic countermeasures.

2. Magneto-Optics: Its high magnetic moment makes it suitable for core components in optical isolators and modulators used in strong magnetic fields to control laser beam propagation.

3. Nuclear Industry: Its high neutron absorption cross-section allows its use in nuclear reactor control rods and as a neutron poison.

4. Glass & Ceramic Coloring: An additive for imparting unique yellow colors and enhancing optical properties in specialty glasses and ceramics.
