Magnesium oxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula MgO. It possesses the common properties of basic oxides and belongs to the category of cementitious materials. It is a white powder, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. Its melting point is 2852℃, boiling point is 3600℃, and density is 2.84g/cm ³ at 25℃. It is soluble in acids and ammonium salt solutions, but insoluble in alcohol. Its solubility in water is 0.00074g /100 mL (at 0 °C) and 0.0086g /100 mL (at 30 °C). Exposed to the air, it readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide and gradually becomes basic magnesium carbonate. The light product is faster than the heavy one. Under certain conditions, it combines with water to form magnesium hydroxide, showing a slightly alkaline reaction. The pH of the saturated aqueous solution is 10.3. It is soluble in acids and ammonium salts but poorly soluble in water, and its solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol. It has strong refraction within the visible and near-ultraviolet light ranges.
Our company's high-purity magnesium oxide is produced through ion extraction and separation technology using conventional magnesium oxide raw materials to remove impurities. It is currently the only known domestic enterprise capable of mass-producing high-purity magnesium oxide.
Applications:
1. For magnesium-based transparent ceramics.
2. For high-purity magnesium oxide ceramic targets.
3. It is used for Co2+ doped MgAl2O4 crystals.
4. For MgO series microwave dielectric ceramics.
5. It is used as a sintering aid for transparent ceramics such as Al2O3, YAG and AlON.

Classification: It is divided into two types, namely light magnesium oxide and heavy magnesium oxide. It is light in weight, loose in volume and white amorphous powder. Odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. Density: 3.58g/cm ³. It is insoluble in pure water and organic solvents, and its solubility in water increases due to the presence of carbon dioxide. It can dissolve in acids and ammonium salt solutions. It is transformed into crystals through high-temperature calcination. It forms magnesium carbonate complex salts upon contact with carbon dioxide in the air. Heavy and compact in volume, it is a white or light yellow powder. It readily combines with water and easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide when exposed to the air. It is prone to gelation and hardening when mixed with magnesium chloride solution. With the upgrading of industrialization and the demand and development of the high-tech functional materials market, a series of high-tech fine magnesium oxide products have been developed and produced, mainly consisting of nearly ten varieties such as high-grade lubricating oil, high-grade tanning alkali grade, food grade, pharmaceutical grade, silicon steel grade, high-grade electromagnetic grade, and high-purity magnesium oxide. |
