Product Details

Ytterbium oxide, molecular formula: Yb₂O₃; Molecular weight: 394.08. The pure product is a colorless powder, and it is light brown or yellow when containing thulium oxide. It has a slight hygroscopicity and readily absorbs water and carbon dioxide from the air, transforming into basic ytterbium carbonate. It is the one with the weakest alkalinity in the yttrium group, except for lutetium oxide. Insoluble in water and cold acids, but soluble in hot dilute acids.

Applications:

1. Used for making special alloys

2. Yb:YAG is used as a special scintillation crystal growth additive, etc.

3. Used for special ceramic media.

4.Used as a special glass additive.

5.It is used for industrial luminescent carbon rods and catalysts, etc.

About Lanthanum Metal

The main production method of ytterbium oxide is the oxalic acid precipitation method. That is, ytterbium chloride or ytterbium nitrate solution is used as raw material, the Ph value is adjusted to 2 with oxalic acid, ammonia water is added to precipitate ytterbium oxalate, then heated and matured, separated and washed, dried at 110℃, and finally calcined at 900-1000 ℃ to form ytterbium oxide.
