Nano Europium Oxide

Nanometer europium oxide appears as a pale red or white powder. It has a melting point around 2350°C and a density of approximately 5.42 g/cm³. It is paramagnetic at room temperature, insoluble in water, but soluble in acids, with a primarily cubic crystal structure. Its most notable characteristic is its exceptional luminescence; the Eu³⁺ ion emits high-purity, highly saturated red light. Due to its sensitivity to moisture and CO₂, storage sealed under an inert atmosphere or vacuum is recommended to maintain high luminescent efficiency.

Applications:

1. Displays & Lighting: Acts as the key activator ion in red phosphors for CRTs, fluorescent lamps, and LEDs, critical for color gamut in displays and color rendering in lighting.

2. Anti-Counterfeiting & Encryption: Used in high-security inks and encryption materials whose unique sharp-line emission spectrum is verifiable under specific UV light.

3. Bio-labeling & Detection: Functions as a label in time-resolved fluorescence immunoassays, where its long fluorescence lifetime eliminates background interference, drastically improving sensitivity.

4. X-ray Imaging: Employed as a phosphor in X-ray intensifying screens, efficiently converting X-rays to visible light and reducing required radiation doses in medical/industrial radiography.

5. Optical Sensing: Its fluorescence intensity is sensitive to local environment (temperature, pH, O₂), enabling its use in high-precision micro-optical sensors.
