CAS #: 7440-00-8
Linear Formula: Nd
EC No.: 231-109-3
Neodymium oxide, with the chemical formula Nd2O3, is a metal oxide. It has the properties of being insoluble in water and soluble in acids. The application of rare earth neodymium oxide is very extensive, and its preparation plays an important role in fields such as glass, ceramics, and electronics.
Application Area:
1. Mainly used as a colorant for glass and ceramics,
2. Adding 1.5% to 2.5% neodymium oxide to magnesium or aluminum alloys can improve the high-temperature performance, airtightness, and corrosion resistance of alloys, making them widely used as aerospace materials.
3. The Yttrium(III) oxide aluminum garnet doped with high-purity neodymium oxide produces a short wave laser beam, which is widely used in industry for welding and cutting thin materials with a thickness of less than 10mm. In medical treatment, Yttrium(III) oxide aluminum garnet laser doped with high-purity neodymium oxide is used instead of Scalpel to remove surgery or disinfect wounds.
4. Neodymium oxide is also used for coloring glass and ceramic materials, as well as for rubber products and additives

About Neodymium Oxide |
The production method of Neodymium Oxide is mainly oxalic acid precipitation method, that is, taking neodymium chloride or Neodymium Nitrate solution as raw material, adjusting the Ph value to 2 with oxalic acid, adding ammonia to precipitate Neodymium(III) oxalate, heating, maturing, separating, washing, drying at 110 ℃, and burning at 900~1000 ℃ to form neodymium oxide. |
